Dr Nick Davies, Senior Guy – De Beers Group Verification, recently participated in the Natures Mic Drop event in Hong Kong which was organised by Loletta Lai from the Natural Diamond Initiative, as part of De Beers natural diamonds showcase.
The event /exhibition took place in Hong Kong from 28 November to 22 December 2023.
De Beers Group Verification showcased its Diamond Screening and Verification Instruments at the event with Dr Nick Davies, a senior scientist at De Beers Group Ignite, demonstrating the SynthDetect to Emi Wong amongst a number of major influencers and celebrities in Asia.
Emi Wong is a YouTuber with 6M followers and is featured in the Forbes 30 under 30 Asia list. She was amongst several actors, music stars and influencers who attended the event. The program of activities included an introduction to rough natural diamonds by Jodine Bolden of the Institute of Diamonds, followed by Trinity Marsh introducing the polished four Cs.
This was concluded with a demonstration of the SynthDetect instrument, which accurately detects and verifies natural diamonds from laboratory grown diamonds, by Dr Nick Davies.
