The instrument comes with a detachable probe. If the probe is in good contact with the stone alone, and not any surrounding metal, a measurement can be made.
No. Replacement lamps must be purchased from the instrument manufacturer.
Fibres can often be recovered for a fixed nominal fee if there is no physical damage or kinks to the cable. The re-polishing service offers a significant saving over purchasing a new fibre. For this service, there is no need to send the whole unit back, only the fibre that needs to be repolished.
